【摘要】:Nickel-metalhydride(Ni-MH)cellshaveatendencytoexhibithighratesofself-dischargethatmaybecausedbycontaminationwithinabatterycell.Thecontaminationsourcehasbeenshowntooriginatefromelectrodeimpurities.Graftedseparatorscantrapandholdtheseimpurities,thusreducingself-dischargeratesandenhancingbatteryquality.Thistestmethoddeterminesanionicexchangecapacitythatcanbeusedtoquantifythelevelofgraftingofaseparator.Thismethodisusefulforresearch,qualitycontrol,andmaterialspecifications.1.1Thistestmethodevaluatesanimportantcharacteristicofpolyolefinorotherfibrousnonwovensheetmaterialintendedforuseinalkalinebatteryseparatorapplications.Thehydrophilicpropertiesofthematerialareenhancedbygraftingafunctionalgroupontothepolyolefin,andthistestmethodistheprimarytestmethodtodeterminethetreatmentlevel,thatis,levelofmonomergraftedtothebasepolymer.Thistestmethodcanalsobeusedforfilmormembranes1.2Thistestmethodisintendedprimarilyfortestingcopolymer-graftedpolyolefinmaterialsusedasbatteryseparators,butcouldbeusedforanygraftedmaterial.Theseseparatorshaveradiation-initiatedgraftingofacrylicacidmonomer(forexample)ontoapolyolefinbase-webmaterialtogeneratehydrophilicsitesonthematerial.Thisprocessisaverygoodmethodforsurfacemodificationofpolymermaterials,andisusedtomakeseparatorshydrophilic.Graftingcanbeaccomplishedbyirradiationoncommonpolymerssuchaspolyethylene,polypropyleneandfluoropolymerswithvariousformsofenergy,suchasUV,gammarays,electronbeams(EB)orX-rays..1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
